In 1997 the Senior Advantage Real Estate Council established the Senior Real Estate Specialist and in March of 2007 the National Association of Realtors recognized it as an official designation. To be honest, it took me a few more years to become aware of it, but the fact is, throughout my career I”ve worked with seniors and their families. It’s always been a specialty of mine. Wnen I did finally take the SRES courses, what continually went through my head was that I could have been teaching them. I may someday.
In my 30 plus years selling real estate, I’ve worked with countless seniors, their families, and their attorneys. It probably helped that when I was in college I took a few courses in gerontology, and early in my real estate career, I sold residential care homes. I learned a great deal about all the different choices people have to make and just what what help is available. Through the years, I’ve amassed an extensive network of just about anyone you might need when the time comes to sell. I’m also a member of the Sacramento Older Adult Collaborative which is a great resource for finding other elder professionals.
